Hair You Can Have: Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes's hair has had its ups and downs. At times, her ever-changing hair styles look downright frumpy and lately, she's been channeling Anna Wintour, which is always dangerous. But this look? I love. It's an easy cut to ask for at the salon and an easy style to maintain, as you'll see. And I can totally see it working on lots of women I know.

What I love about this haircut is that it works in a variety of situations. Here, it's tucked behind Katie's ears, allowing the focus to be on her face. For that kind of shine, I've found that applying a shine spray and then using a high-quality tourmaline straightener works wonders.

  1. I'm gonna CUT you, Ferrier. You pimped my blog, complimented my hair cut, and said I remind you of one of the most beautiful actresses in the world. Where do you get off? This is just unforgivable.

  2. I have that hair style but I did not know I had so many options! What am I doing sitting here commenting when I should be in front of the mirror with a couple of hot irons and lots of scarves?!
This could be life-changing! Thanks for starting this blog!

  3. Ha ha! AWESOME. If I ever get my hair cut short again, this is definitely the cut I'd get. You can really do so many things with it- and it seems like it would even look great simply washing, drying, and maybe doing a few passes of the flat iron, which I do now with long hair.

  4. Oh, and Amanda, I'm sure you had no idea you'd have a bunch of women analyzing your hairstyle when you made that video!

  7. After I had my baby, I went to my stylist and asked her for a haircut that would allow me to look decently cute on those days when I didn't even have time to shower or brush my hair. She created one! I have curly hair, though, so I think I lucked out there. Investing in a good hair cut, though, has changed my life. I used to be a $10 haircut kinda gal, and going for something a bit nicer has paid off. I actually have to get my hair cut less often.

  8. I agree. I got a $100 haircut for my beauty column and loved it so much that I now get a fabulous $100 haircut every six months, as opposed to a mediocre $40 haircut every three or four months. With long hair, I can swing the longer wait!

  9. Well, I love the haircut but couldn't pull it off, unfortunately. I've tried before. But, I love her lipstick! See if you can find out her brand/shade of lipstick! :)

  10. Nice site! Your beauty columns in Nashville Uncensored are always hilarious (I think that's where they are... you write in a lot of places and I have kids climbing on me wanting my attention and when I give it to them, they ignore me... phew).

I love Katie Holmes. I loved Dawson's Creek. LOVED her cute, innocent, slightly angsty character.

By by GOD, someone please tell her to smile with her freakin' TEETH!

    The smirk kills me.
